"Bader Field" Back Cover Revised PDF Print E-mail
Bader Field began as an homage to Carl's father, Samuel David, a legendary art dealer in Philadelphia, who died suddenly and unexpectedly at the age of fifty-eight while on a buying trip in England.  Carl wrote this book initially so that this children, not yet born, would know the extraordinary greatness of their grandfather whom they would never otherwise know. But, as the years passed and this book evolved, its true perspective emerged.

After more than twenty-five years of Carl's personal struggle and torment, Bader Field would reveal the story of how his own happy American family lived through and fought to survive his brother's shocking death by suicide. In an instant, this one act shattered Carl's young life when he was just sixteen years old and nearly destroyed his family.  As a young man and as a brother, Carl battled through his own personal wasteland with one vision. But later, upon becoming a husband and father, he could only imagine the pain his parents had suffered.

"I needed to reach out to those who are on the brink of killing themselves to show them that there is always a better way. There is love, hope and help available. I want them to see how such a violent act not only ends the life of the victim, but also forever scars the lives of their families and friends. My mission is to bring to those who contemplate suicide an awareness about what a horrific tragedy it produces and to offer solace to all who have lost loved ones this way by showing how my family came to terms with my brother's taking his own life. It is my way of paying it forward."

Carl David's book will resonate with teens and young adults who may not realize the devastation of suicide and the permanent horror it inflicts on the family they leave behind.

"I wrote this book in the hope that anyone contemplating such a violent end would consider the option to seek help instead of following that final path. If I can save even one life...."

Bader Field Reviews & Interviews
7/12/2009 9:31:34 AM

"Bader Field" by Carl David has been getting rave reviews and interviews as more and more people are recognizing the importance of this inspirational book and the life lessons within this heartfelt story.

Having now been interviewed by the likes of Valerie Connelly, Yvonne Perry,Lillian Brummet, Joe Carroccio, Lillian Cauldwell, and Rhett Palmer, and more scheduled in the days and weeks to come, Carl David is receiving glowing reviews for his book, Bader Field which began as a memoir to his dad, Samuel David, the legendary art dealer who's life ended too soon at age 58. Over its years in development, the book became more about the David family and their impossible journey through the suicide of Carl's brother Bruce (age 22) and their desperate struggle to survive the shocking nightmare.

Carl's mission became one of paying forward by taking the darkest days of his life and turning them into something preventive, hoping to reach teens and young adults on that edge of final desperation and show them that they are not alone, that there is help out there, that they are loved more than they know....He also wants to offer solace to those who have walked a similar path of pain and let them know how his family learned to cope.

This is a story that needs to be told, far and wide for suicide is the number one killer of children in the United States. That frightening statistic must be addressed now; not later.

BOOK REVIEW

BOOK: Bader Field

AUTHOR: Carl David

PUBLISHER: Nightengale Press

ISBN-13: 978-1933449661

RATING: 4 stars

In Bader Field, Carl David portrays a beautiful story speaking about the love and inspiration he received from his father who passed on when Carl was only 24 years old. It is an emotional story of the trials and difficulties to continue even when the going is rough and one thinks he cannot go forward.

Sam David, Carl's father was an extraordinary individual who was not only an inspiration to his family and children but also in the art world. It was an honor to meet Sam David in this memoir.

Sam David guided Carl in his young life and gave him elemental tools to use. The tools and the guidance are what have helped Carl to get through the loss of his father, to hold the family together, bring up his children and continue to make the family art business thrive.

With Bader Field, Carl David has given the readers lessons, wisdom and the elemental tools for life survival and shared them with his readers. It's a good book to read.
